5 Reasons To See New Places

At this point, you’ve seen 100,002 posts on social media about why traveling is so great.

Yes, I am here to back that up and spit 5 fire reason why I agree.

I would consider myself well-traveled (with many countries to go) but presently I have been to about 21-22 countries. I am so thankful for parents who encouraged me to see new things, meet new people and learn about other cultures.

Coming from the Caribbean we have such vibrant cultures and more specifically we all have our own individual and special traits that make us different.

Anyway, I won’t dwell on the Caribbean on this post (I’ll save it for later). Check out why I think you need to get up and get outta there.

Perspective

I would say a huge part of the person I am today is because of the fact that I’ve been meeting people from different cultures since I could remember. Growing up in the Caribbean is such a special thing. Each island while similar is so distinctively different but rich and vibrant in culture. But the icing on the cake is how many different cultural backgrounds are placed within. As a child in Jamaica, I was exposed to many Chinese and Indian cultures. Then having the opportunity to travel to other islands and the United States gave me a bigger outlook.

As an adult, I made travel a top 3 priority (After food and living conditions haha). But it doesn’t always have to be expensive and you don’t have to go far to have the life-changing experiences and meet people who inspire you (or just give you a laugh).

Food

So I mentioned before how rich and vibrant Caribbean culture is. Wouldn’t give it up for anything but I can’t tell you wonderful it feels to eat food in different countries that you’ve never heard of or you have just always loved that cuisine and wanted to taste it authentically.

Cheese in France… Ramen in Japan… Fish and Chips in London

It’s cheesy but you’re traveling for you and no one else. Take your picture and enjoy ya meal! What What.

Its straight up fun

As someone who struggles with self-diagnosed anxiety, my family found it shocking that I moved across the Atlantic Ocean to live in the United Kingdom basically alone and with no direct friends around.

But because of my experience in Philadelphia at University, I knew I could make friends. I eventually did and I traveled with them, I explored with them and honestly, it makes the little bumps along the way worth it.

New Connections

Right so I’m super extra (borderline crazy cautious) But when I’m traveling with someone I trust who has my back I feel free to talk to other and meet new people.

Ideas

This could mean many things for different people. But I find it helps to open up your thoughts about people, experiences, education and maybe business.

When was the first time you left your home country or went to a place that you didn’t consider yourself familiar with already?
